President: Scott Lassiter, MSA
Bio: Scott grew up in Apex North Carolina and matriculated through Apex Elementary, Middle and High Schools. He attended NC State University where he earned a degree with honors in political science with a concentration in secondary social studies education. He has taught at both the middle and high school levels within Wake County Public Schools. While teaching, he attained his masters degree from North Carolina Central University in school administration and was elected to one term as an Apex Town Councilman. Lassiter was appointed as a middle school assistant principal in 2015 by the Wake County Public School Board. Aside from his duties as a practicing school administrator, he is currently a doctoral student in public school leadership at NC State University. He also represents the million-plus citizens of Wake County as their elected Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor. Scott enjoys reading, playing golf, yard-work, cooking, sporting clays, socializing and volunteering.
Director: Barbara Ann Lassiter
Bio: Barbara, or Ann as she prefers to be called, is a Raleigh NC native. She attended Cathedral School for her primary years and graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School. She attended Western Carolina University after receiving the Daniel Moore Governor’s Scholarship. Aside from being Scott’s mom, Ann is a retired state employee. After selling a successful public relations firm after the birth of her first child, she served in the administration of various governors and legislators on both sides of the aisle over a 4 decade span. She held positions at the NC General Assembly, Department of Transportation, Department of Cultural Resources, and Governors Highway Safety Program. In 1983 she was awarded the Order of the Longleaf Pine, NC’s highest civilian honor, by Gov. Hunt. She has been a regular school volunteer and was even briefly employed as a substitute teacher! Ann has always believed in community service and has been a county political party precinct chair, an Apex Planning Commissioner and a Sunday school teacher. In her retirement she enjoys gardening and painting.
